Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. Ltd (KHNP) is a subsidiary of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), a wholly government-owned corporation. KHNP operates 20 nuclear power units and another 8 are under construction. Out of the 20 operational units, 4 are CANDU-6 reactors at the Wolsong Nuclear Power Site.

Nuclear power provided about 40% of total electricity generation in South Korea in 2001. Wolsong units' generating capacity is approximately 15% of total generating capacity of Korea.
